Saina Nehwal enters Badminton Quarter-finals
Following on the footsteps of Abhinav Bindra’s feat of winning the first individual gold medal for India, Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal brought out her best to beat the 5th Ranked Chen Wang of Hong Kong to storm into the Quarterfinals of women’s badminton singles.
Saina defeated Chen 21-19, 11-21, 21-11 in 52 minutes. It was a hard fought match with no player giving anything to the other.
This is the first time that she has beaten Chen, they had played three times previously and Saina had lost on each occassion. So it was sort of a revenge.
Saina Nehwal will now meet Maria Kristin Yulianti of Indonesia in the quarterfinals. Kristin Yulianti defeated Tine Rasmussen of Denmark 18-21, 21-19, 21-14. If she wins two more matches, she can clinch a medal.
Hope for some more good news in Olympics for India.
