Reliance’s BigTV has launched it’s DTH service on August 15th.
Big TV DTH will be competing with already established players Dish TV and Tata Sky. DTH operators in the country, Tata Sky, DishTV and Sun are estimated to have a user base of around 7-8 million.
The service will have 32 cinema channels, and will be distributed via 700 distributors across the country.
It is estimated that India has over 124 million TV households, with roughly 80 million using the conventional cable delivery platform.
Following are some of the features that Big TV is promoting extensively in its advertisements.
Picture-in-Picture (PIP) that would enable viewers to watch twelve TV channels at the same time on any TV set in the country.
Enabled by worlds most advanced MPEG4 technology Platform for DTH services, BIG TV
BIG TV DTH service is available at 1 Lakh retail outlets, including over 240 Reliance World and 2000 Reliance Mobile Stores, across 6500 towns in the country.
First and only DTH operator to launch 32 Movie Channels and a Subscription Video on Demand service.
BIG TV’s Fully Digital Home Entertainment Service is available at Rs. 1490 including three months complimentary subscription.
The site is currently having lot of problem due to heavy traffic. I am also looking forward to having all the details about their plans. It is thought that Big TV would be providing the cheapest DTH service in India. The best thing is that they will be airing all the sports channels, which is not currently the case with Dish TV and Tata SKY.
Since the competition is hotting up amongst the DTH providers customers are set to benefit with this. Airtel is also launching its DTH service very soon.

I got Big TV installed yesterday at my residence vide smart card No. 200600972323 and CAF No. 40000102282425 inder 1495 scheme with about 146 channel. I was surprised to find out that Q TV is not included in the list which myself and my family fond of seeing. In view of this I request you to kindly include Q tv in the list. This will attract the attentions of many more customers.

I brought the BigTV last week. But, till they didnt installed. Each and every day I’m calling the customer care and they are replying same words “Within next 48 hours your request will be processed”.
i conact bigtv 1 week 32 movie channels ok but no change cinema
no update and could not open the english cinema channels
iam complat allredy sarvice center but no replay no conactvite
plz update movies in cinema channels

I just wanted to share my worst experience with “Reliance BIG TV” DTH Service.
First of all I request everybody not to purchase “Reliance BIG TV” connection.
Well, to start with I have taken BIG TV “Set Top Box” on 31/Aug/2008 “Invoice No. 0101038073″ from one of the Main Web World, Mehdipatnam Branch (Hyderabad).
I think initially as a company while selling the product, web world person has to inform me about all the future requirements from my side, but they have not given any kind of information.
Actually, one Work Order ID is required in order to have installation for BIG TV, that we can get after calling customer care of BIG TV.
But because they have not informed me that I hvae to call Customre care, it was delayed for 2 days, and by chance I called c.care for some other reason on 02/Sep/2008 and got my work order ID.
Even after having my work order ID, I have not recieved any call from the Installation team for Installation, I raised complaint for the same also for so many times, but none of any use.
Almost everyday for more than 1.5 hours I was calling c.care for any kind of solution and spoke to around more than 12 c.care representatives, to name some of them are :- Sheetal, Usha, Bhaven, Ganesh, Priya and so on and escalated the same issue to some of the senior members as well they are:- Rahul and Bhuvneshwari.
Everybody was saying the same thing repeatedly “we are sorry for the inconvinience caused, it will be done asap……etc…..”.
Till today, i.e. 12/SEP/2008 more than 12 days after purcahse of STB, I am still waiting for the installation…..??? and still have no update….
One more intersting thing, I called c.care to ask “is it possible to return the STB because of bad services”, the representative straight forward answered “just go to the web world and return back the STB, they will refund the money”, they people are not even concerned about the problem and reason why I asked to return it back.
Finally, I request everybody again PLZ PLZ PLZ never go for “Reliance BIG TV”, only name is BIG, everything else is small.

if anybody can tell me regarding when airtel and videocon dth supposed to be launched and also if QTV and PEACE TV are being launched on any dth service. PEACE Tv is an indian channel and free to air , at least it should come on any dth

Those above complaint letters are to study your DTH out put to actual users or end users. With this U can update your technical hindrance and give a nice telecast.
U should also tell the clients all the Dos and Donts to them .
and also U should be frank what will be cost per month for Big TV DTH user. Now though field is so competetive it is the right time to announce the rates , since other DTH providers have published their rates in dailies. FURTHER MOST IMPORTANT IS HOW WILL BE YOUR

I booked the big tv and got the set top box and got installed after
5 days.my smart card id is 200587633841.(17 th sep 2008). on 29 sep
all of sudden tv became blank and i lodged the complaint with c /c
with a complaint no ,76932867 dated 29 sep 08. Every i call up c/c
and ask the progress, theirs repeated answer remains one i”am sorry
sir it will be done by today evening”. today is 03 oct 08 so far no-
body call me up or do something abt the tv.remaining for so many days without tv , how one would like ? ANIL AMBANI should think
