Anna Patterson Google alum launches new search engine Cuil
Search Engine dominance war is not getting over after Microsoft proposing to buy Yahoo. Now there is a new search engine getting ready for the public launch today, the search engine is called Cuil (Pronounced ‘cool’).
A Google Alumni, Anna Patterson is the co-founder and president of Cuil. Anna Patterson said its not a Google killer, its trying to reinvent Search. Anna Patterson, the architect of the Teragoogle search index that was launched in 2006. Before working with Google in 2004, Anna was working with Recall, then the largest search Enging with 12 billion pages.
Anna Patterson, a holder of Computer Science doctorate and mother of four said that the Internet is growing at such a rate that the search engine’s cant keep up with the growth and needs of users. Cuil ( www.cuil.com ) is said to have come up with indexes of 120 billion web pages, cuil ranks results by relevance instead of popularity. Cuil organizes the results by ideas and protects the privacy of its users.
Cuil has a great layout, and it offer suggestions to assist in searches. Also cuil does not collect any personal data, so the search history is always private.
Cuil is an Irish name which means Wisdom. And the team is bringing up their wisdon to improve the searching experience of users. Cuil is not about building some quick money, Anna Patterson said. Cuils is about building next generation search engine.
